One of the main goals of the unification of youth hockey in the greater Kansas City area was to unify travel hockey.  Our goal is to create top tier teams at each age level built of the best talent we have across the metropolitan area, to compete against top tier teams from across the region.  To achieve this goal, it is imperative that all players aspiring to develop and compete at the top level attend the AA and A try-outs and that we have the support of all KCYHA clubs.

As noted last year, we believe in creating an opportunity for all players to compete for top level travel teams to represent KCYHA no matter what side of the State Line you live on. The Mavs AA & Stars Gold Plus A programs will again be the top levels for players to compete for positions.

Tryouts will be open for all players from the KCYHA to make the following teams: 

Mavs AA: U-10 Squirts, Maximum of 40 games allowed to be played at this level.

Mavs AA: U-12 Pee-Wee, Maximum of 45 games allowed to be played at this level.

Mavs AA: U-14 Bantams, Maximum of 50 games allowed to be played at Bantam level.

Stars Gold Plus A: U-10 Squirts, Maximum of 40 games allowed to be played at this level.

Stars Gold Plus A: U-12 Pee-Wee, Maximum of 45 games allowed to be played at this level.

Stars Gold Plus A:  U-14 Bantam, Maximum of 50 games allowed to be played at this level.

* By capping the games limits, this will give parents a better opportunity to budget for travel heading into the season. 

* All players that do not make a Mavs travel AA team are strongly encouraged to attend the Stars Gold Plus A tryout.  These teams are Kansas City’s ‘A’ level teams in each Division and are open to all KCYHA member clubs.

* Mavs AA will play out of Cable Dahmer Arena/Community Ice in Independence.

* Stars Gold Plus A will play out of KCIC.

* Please see each club’s KCYHA webpage for dates and times of tryouts.

*There will be no city-wide second travel teams at any of the AA or A levels.
