In order to make the next season run as smoothly and efficiently as possible, we have created new volunteer positions within the organization. The Jr. Mavs rely heavily on its volunteers to accomplish the many things that need to be done in order to make a successful hockey program. Your help is appreciated and essential in the continued success of the Jr Mavs. Please review the positions at the link below to see how your talents could be best utilized.

Save the Date! The Annual Kansas City Mavericks "Golf with a Maverick" Golf Tournament will be on Tuesday, October 8th, 2019! Come on out and celebrate the Mavs 11th year anniversary by golfing with your favorite Mavericks hockey player. Proceeds will benefit Jr. Mavs Youth Hockey.

We are excited to announce that Mike Kempkes will be taking over as the Jr. Mavs Coaching Director for the 2018-2019 season! We are very excited to have him on board and look forward to his new ideas and expertise going forward.
The Coaching Director will work directly with the coaches before and during the season to ensure we are giving our players the best possible instruction on the ice.

Mike Kempkes Bio:
A native of Kansas City, Mike started playing at the age of 6 through the Jr Hockey ranks. Was a bantam draft prospect of the Regina Pats WHL. Played midget hockey in Omaha where he started his Jr career with the Omaha Lancers USHL. Mike finished his hockey career with the Columbus Crush CSHL. After playing he began his coaching career with the Lincoln Jr Stars as the Varsity Coach IHSHL for 2 years 02-04. Omaha Jr Lancers Varsity Coach 04-06. KC Stars Bantam AA 06-08. Russel Stover AAA Tier 1 Coach U14 and U16 Coach 09-13. Mavs Elite AAA Tier 1 Coach u16 13-15. KC Mavs U18 AA Coach 15-17. KC Jets U16 Coach 17-18. Kansas City Mavericks ECHL Hockey Ops and Strength & Conditioning Coach 15-Present. Mike currently holds a Level 4 USA Hockey Certification and has worked with/under coaches such as Pat Ferschweiler (NHL), Mike Hastings (NCAA), Richard Matvichuk (WHL), Jason Herter (NCAA), JS Dickson (ECHL). Mike attended UNO where he studied finance, as well as fire science through the fire academy at Hutchinson CC and University of Kansas. He resides in Greenwood Mo with his wife (Kelsey) and three kids Leilani, Noah and Baylor.
The Jr. Mavs offers House/Rec hockey for U8, Squirt, Peewee, Bantam & High School age players. Fall/winter practices will be held during the week and run from September through February with games on the weekends starting mid October and running through February. Teams play in the Kansas City Youth Hockey League against teams from Line Creek, Independence, Carriage Club, Shawnee, Topeka & St Joseph.
KC travel associations have merged to become one unified travel club which will be called KC Mavs and operate under the new KCYHA. KC Mavs travel will offer A & AA teams for Squirt, Peewee, Bantam & Midget that play in the MoHockey league.
