Pre-Tryout Camp is optional and only $30 when purchased with your Travel Tryout registration of $100.  Total cost $130. Pre-Tryout Camp gives each player THREE 1hr sessions to get ready for tryouts. A BIG thank you to those that came to the Annual Meeting on Monday.  It was great to see you and I appreciated the opportunity to discuss the new travel program with you.  Hopefully I was able to add some clarity around the program for you and you were able to see how excited I am about this upcoming hockey season.

For those that were not able to attend, I wanted to send a communication to the KCYHA membership to introduce myself and recap several items that were covered at the Annual Meeting.  On April 21st, KCYHA communicated that we were moving from rink-based travel teams to a single, unified travel program at the Squirt, Peewee and Bantam levels. Shortly after that, KCYHA appointed me as the Director of the new unified travel hockey program.

For those that I have not met, my name is Rick Murcek.  I moved to the KC area in 2019 and have been involved with travel hockey in KC as a coach for the last 6 years.  Prior to that, I lived in Omaha, Nebraska, where I was involved as a head coach for over 25 years and served as the Travel Director/Board member for two terms.  I currently serve as the Coach-in-Chief for MWAHA (our USAH affiliate) and have been involved with USAH's Coaching Education Program for 15 years as an Instructor/Coach Developer.  Off the ice, I enjoy spending time with my wife of 29 years, Cindy, our three grown children, Logan, Grant and Kaylin, and our golden retriever, Brooks.

It was exciting to announce at the Annual Meeting that the KCYHA Unified Travel Program will be operating under the Kansas City Scouts name and will be wearing Navy, Red, Yellow and White as their team colors.  The logo and jersey concepts were shared as well.  We also addressed our communication plan.  As part of that plan, this is the new "KC Scouts Travel Team" section on the KCYHA website.  I will be posting information out here periodically and adding things to the calendar. 

Please note that we did remove the Stars and the Saints Travel sections from the website.  This was to avoid confusion and in an effort to clean up tabs and prepare for our upcoming website redesign.

At the meeting I mentioned that we would have a series of "Townhall" meetings scheduled at the various rinks, as well as "open office hours" set up with a zoom link that I will make available for anybody to join and talk about and/or ask questions about the new program. Below is the schedule for those events.
