TO: KCYHA MEMBERS
FROM: President/Executive Director of Hockey Operations- Doug Soetaert

We are all aware of the uncharted course that the Covid-19 pandemic has thrown at us but we are moving ahead with planning towards playing this winter as many of the arenas in the area are starting to open up for hockey and other activities.

I believe in creating an opportunity for all players to compete for Top level travel teams to represent KCYHA no matter what side of the State Line you live on. The Mavs AA & Stars Gold Plus A programs will be the top levels for players to compete for positions. Tryouts will be open for all players to make the following teams.

The MAVS AA and STARS GOLD PLUS A travel programs will have the following teams for travel.

Mavs AA: U-10 Squirts, Maximum of 40 games allowed to be played at this level

Mavs AA: U-12 Pee-Wee, Maximum of 45 games allowed to be played at this level

Mavs AA: U-14 Bantams, Maximum of 50 games allowed to be played at Bantam level

Stars Gold Plus A: U-10 Squirts, Maximum of 40 games allowed to be played at this level

Stars Gold Plus A: U-12 Pee-Wee, Maximum of 45 games allowed to be played at this level

Stars Gold Plus A: U-14 Bantam, Maximum of 50 games allowed to be played at this level

*By capping the games limits, this will give parents a better opportunity to budget for travel heading into the season.  With the COVID 19 problems, teams may play well under the maximum number as certain states may have restrictions on travel teams.

*There will be no second travel teams at any of the AA or A levels for this current season*

*All players that do not make a Mavs travel AA or Gold Plus A teams will return to their respected House League teams to try out for house select at the appropriate time.

*The U-16 AA Midget travel team will be suspended for the upcoming season and all players of that age group will have the opportunity to compete for positions on the Jets Midwest High School team and MAHSHL teams.  We are also looking at adding a JV/Varsity select team from the MAHSHL Kansas City teams that would play in a couple tournaments. More information will follow as we get closer to the season.

Mavs AA-tryouts will be held at Cable Dahmer Arena.

Gold Plus A-tryouts will be held at KCIC.

Dates and times will follow shortly.
